Digital City Exhibition

10 December 2004

The brave new world of digital art including computer animation, a virtual tour of a renovated historical building, advanced computer game design and an animated film based on the work of local artist Mackenzie Thorpe, will be explored at a special exhibition at the University of Teesside on Monday 13 December, 5.30pm – 7.30pm.

The Digital City Fellowships ‘04 event, held at the Centre for Enterprise, off Victoria Road, will showcase the work created by the members the Digital City Fellowship scheme. Digital City is an economic regeneration project, based at the University of Teesside and operated through a partner Steering Group, to create a self-sustaining, vibrant cluster of digital media and digital technology initiatives. The Fellowship scheme allocates grants to budding and professional digital artists to develop new and exciting work.

Gareth Edwards, Digital City Creative Director, said: “We held a live technology showcase in April this year to celebrate the achievements of the Digital City Fellows and Residencies. It was a fantastic showcase that gave people the opportunity to explore Digital Media and Digital Technology – an area which is often misunderstood.

“The book we will be launching on Monday commemorates that event and is a tribute to all involved. It represents the collected works of 18 Digital City Fellowships and Residencies and all of the other people who have been involved in their teams and creation, mentoring and funding.” The invited guests will all receive a complimentary copy of the book and DVD, detailing the works on display.

Please note this is a media invite only.
