Sylvia Denton, President of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is to visit the University of Teesside on Tuesday 25 January, to meet and address final year students on the Advanced Diploma in Nursing Studies Programme.

There will be an opportunity to photograph Sylvia Denton at 9.35am on Tuesday 25 January in the reception of the School of Health & Social Care, Centuria Building, Victoria Road, Middlesbrough. She will be meeting final year students from the Advanced Diploma in Nursing Studies Programme, along with Professor Paul Keane, Dean of the School of Health & Social Care, and Padraic Conway, Senior Lecturer / Programme Leader for the Diploma in Nursing Studies.

The event is entitled Senior Student Nurse Conference. Padraic Conway said: “Our third year Diploma students are coming to the end of their academic studies at the University after completing their final placements and theoretical work. They are about to begin employment in varied care settings across the Durham and the Tees Valley.

“Sylvia Denton will be giving a keynote presentation at the start of the day, which will focus on professional issues in nursing, the transition from the role of student to that of qualified nurse and current topical employment issues. This is an excellent opportunity for our final year students to be briefed about the changing state of professional issues in today’s rapidly evolving health service."
