As well as the on-line webcast, student volunteers will be ensuring that a giant 16 square metre screen, positioned near the stage, is constantly beaming out images of the event to the crowd. Other new innovations for this year include ‘head-cam’ – a webcam mounted onto a baseball cap so the wearer can roam the crowd capturing the essence of the Mela - and a facility where any visitor with a digital camera can have their images uploaded onto the website by taking their camera to the the bandstand. The internet activities for the Mela are managed by the University of Teesside’s Department of Academic Enterprise.
