Clearing the way to a new future

16 August 2005

Many students are expected to ring the University of Teesside’s help lines after receiving their A level results on Thursday 18 August 2005 to confirm their place at university.

Known as ‘Confirmation and Clearing’ and lasting until mid-September, the aim is to match potential students to courses which still have vacancies. It has also become increasingly popular with people making late applications to university. New courses this year include BSc (Hons) Health Psychology, BSc (Hons) Digital Forensics, BA (Hons) Sport Management, BA (Hons) Sport and Leisure Management, BA (Hons) Marketing and Advertising Management, BA (Hons) Advertising Management and Public Relations.

Kathryn Turnbull, University of Teesside’s Academic Registrar, said: “The Clearing help lines are intended to provide students with detailed information on current vacancies and entry requirements. Staff will be available to make offers and advise applicants on the availability of the 75th Anniversary Scholarships.”

To mark the 75th anniversary of the opening of Constantine College, the original educational predecessor of the University, the University is launching 130 anniversary scholarships worth a total of £3,000 per student.

Scholarships will be offered to those who do well in their A levels and choose one of 13 full-time degree courses starting in October. The University is making its anniversary scholarships available to students who achieve 300 UCAS tariff points. Applicants with non-standard entry qualifications will be considered on an individual basis. Successful students will receive £1,000 per year for each of the three years of their course.
