Christmas stress buster at University

By

01 December 2005

Crowded shops, credit card bills and over-eating – some are feeling the pressures of Christmas already. But the University of Teesside is offering people the chance to leave the festive fatigue behind them at a special fundraising ‘stress buster’ session on Wednesday 7 December.

The stress buster will raise money for the Holistic Cancer Care Project at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough by offering a range of holistic therapies. Aromatherapy, reiki massage, reflexology, acu-pressure massage, Indian head massage and homeopath stress remedies are all available for just £5 each. The sessions, run by staff from the Holistic Cancer Care Project and other holistic centres, are open to all members of the public.

Every person who takes part in the stress buster will also receive a mince pie, a non-alcoholic cocktail and entry into a prize draw. Prizes include one night bed/breakfast and a three-course meal for two at Stokesley’s Chapters Hotel, a three month Gymworld membership, £20 gift vouchers for Psyche, Vue cinema tickets, a signed Middlesbrough FC ball, Christmas hampers and much more.

The event will also include a body MOT, where people can get their health assessed, and craft stalls featuring healing crystals and exotic jewellery.

Jayne Villiers, Volunteer Project Co-ordinator and organiser of the stress buster, said: “We’ll be having stress buster sessions all over the university campus, giving people the chance to relax and raise funds for a local charity at the same time. I hope people have fun and enjoy the stress buster.”
