Dawn, 25, from Thorntree in Middlesbrough, entered an online competition on the University’s website while finishing off her bachelors degree in Nutrition and Health Science at the University. She is now studying for a masters degree in Public Health at Teesside and will be using the new laptop for her coursework and assignments.
Dawn said: “I didn’t believe it when I got the letter telling me I had won. I had to give it to my boyfriend Rob to read it again to make sure! It was the first time I had won anything so it was a great Christmas surprise.
“But the funny thing is my home PC broke down the day after I received the letter. I used to have a laptop as well but unfortunately my pet duck, Sunshine, once used it as a toilet and it was damaged beyond repair! I’ll be definitely making sure that this one comes to no harm.”
There were a total of four high spec Toshiba laptops on offer. The other winners were Gavin George, 17, from Sunderland, Michelle Thomas, 17, from Coulby Newham, and Daniel Mistry, 17, from Loughborough.
