University students to quiz key business people

Are we really an obese nation and does it matter?
Nuclear Power: to be or not to be?
How can we make Middlesbrough more attractive?
Is recycling really worth the effort?
Online identity theft-is the Internet really the way forward?
What impact will London have on sport in the community in 2012?

These and other topical issues will be explored in a Business Question Time event at the University of Teesside on Tuesday 13th March 2007 from 1.00pm-2.00pm. It will take place in Room H.O1, Centuria Building, Victoria Road, Middlesbrough. Please note, the event is not for the general public, it has been designed for University of Teesside first year Business students only.

The questions have devised by first year students from the University’s Teesside Business School as part of their professional development and employability module. They will quiz an invited panel about a range of issues, following the format of BBC One’s Question Time. The panel will be chaired by Teesside Business School’s Acting Dean Nigel Evans and includes:

  • Karen Brown-Director of Training & Skills Development, North East Chamber of Commerce
  • Jon Rokk-Assistant Vice-President, Sembcorp Utilities
  • Jonathan Lamb-Head of Marketing and Operations, Business Link North-East
  • Leo Gillen-Gillens Stores
  • Simon Pearson-Chairman of Pearsons
  • Gary Groome-Principal, Redcar & Cleveland College.

Lesley Mulcahy, Senior Lecturer, Marketing and Retail from Teesside Business School, said: “The students are very enthusiastic about the event. It’s really good that they can get involved with key local business people in our area.”
