The AV Festival 08, organised by Audio Visual Arts North East, is taking place in Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland from February 28 to March 8. A range of exhibitions, workshops and performances linked to the theme of Broadcast will be held during the 10-day festival.
Cult 1960s drama The Prisoner will be shown at 7.15pm on Sunday 2 March and cult comedy show Not The Nine O’clock News at 7.15pm on Thursday 6 March, both in the Innovation Centre Lecture Theatre, off Stephenson Street, University of Teesside. Entry is free.
Anatomy of a Television Programme will go behind the scenes of BBC Scotland series The Adventure Show, with University of Teesside lecturers and working industry professionals Professor Richard Else, Warren Harrison and Matt Dennis.
The free event is from 10am to noon on Thursday 6 March, at the Institute of Digital Innovation (IDI), University of Teesside. Although aimed at students it is open to all, with booking essential on 0191 232 8289 or email mike@tynecine.org
Atlas of Electromagnetic Space sees Spanish cultural researchers Jose Luis de Vicente and Irma Vila transforming radio waves to make them visible to the naked eye. Their project will be displayed on plasma screens throughout the festival within the IDI.
