University pledge to support Corus employees

08 May 2009

The University has promised to do all it can to support Corus employees.

It has been announced that up to 2,000 jobs could be lost at the Redcar plant.

Laura Woods, Director of Academic Enterprise at the University, said: ‘Teesside University has special funding from our own Funding Council and OneNorthEast to help companies and individuals through the recession, and we are able to provide special assistance with re-training and upgrading skills and qualifications.

'Whatever the outcome of the current discussions over TCP’s future, we are ready to work closely with the company to support its employees in whatever ways we can.’
