Generous postgraduate bursaries on offer now

05 June 2009

We're offering new postgraduate bursaries worth over £11,000 each.

The University has received one year’s funding from Regional Development Agency, One NorthEast, to help attract and retain the region’s brightest and best talent.

The new postgraduate bursaries, starting in June are available in:

  • advanced manufacturing systems
  • control and electronics
  • design
  • electronics and communications
  • environmental technology
  • process manufacturing management
  • computer aided engineering (design).

Paul Shelton, Assistant Dean, (Education Partnerships and Opportunities) School of Science & Technology, said: 'The bursaries are especially aimed at employees recently made redundant or whose jobs may be in an ‘at risk’ category. They can provide an upskilling sabbatical until the eventual upturn in the economy.

'Employers and human resources managers seeking to protect their engineering skills base are particularly encouraged to contact the University for further details.'

The bursaries are available on a discretionary basis for one year only and are worth £11,050 each.

Courses start on Monday 22 June and are delivered as a series of intensive block weeks followed by periods of directed study. They all involve work with a regional company.
