Arts week has been ever more creative

21 May 2010

Creative arts week at Teesside was a bespoke affair this year with a whole host of events and activities.

It started with the launch of the art and design show and followed up throughout the week with the cabaret of the spoken word, history events and on-stage performances.

The design exhibition showcased work by students in graphic design, illustration, multimedia and motion graphics, product design, furniture, interior architecture and interior design.

The fine art exhibition featured specialist expertise in painting, sculpture and print making.

Other events which took place throughout the week included performing arts, creative writing readings, media screenings and history talks, showcasing staff and student talent in the School of Arts & Media.

One exhibition was a unique fusion of Thailand and Scottish identities created by final-year BA (Hons) Fine Art student Simon Wilson.

Simon, 21, from Roseworth, Stockton-on-Tees, has given the installation the title ‘Ethnic Fusion.’ Simon said: 'The project was inspired by my own cross-cultural identity, as my mother Metta is originally from Thailand while my Dad Alan has Scottish ancestry.
