University of the Year joins Tall Ships

02 August 2010

Teesside University is taking part in the Tall Ships festival at Hartlepool with staff and students joining the celebrations.

Over one million visitors are estimated to visit Hartlepool next week for the 2010 Tall Ships Race. The town will be hosting the biggest event in its history from Friday 6 August to Tuesday 10 August, as more than 60 vessels sail into the region.

Information on a range of Teesside University courses will be available on a stand on the HMS Trincomalee, from Thursday 5 August to Tuesday 10 August. The University is also joining the Visit Tees Valley Marquee in the Tall Ships Village. University staff will be in the Fire Zone, stands H and I, on Saturday 7 August until Monday 9 August, available to give out and discuss course information and prospectuses. We are delighted to be part of the festivities David Hudson, the University’s Assistant Director, UK Student Recruitment, said: 'The Tall Ships Race is an iconic event and one that everyone in the Tees Valley is proud to be associated with. We are delighted to be part of the festivities and are looking forward to what promises to be an unforgettable event.

'With so many people expected from across the United Kingdom and beyond, we are available to speak to people and answer any questions they might have about the University and the region.'
