Radio station aims for tuneful double

05 November 2010

The University’s student radio station Click is broadcasting news of its second successive year of national recognition.

Click has been shortlisted for two awards in the national Student Radio Association’s 2010 awards, which will be announced on Thursday 11 November by Radio One at London’s O2.

Last year Click earned the Silver award in the Chart Show of the Year category in the Student Radio Association’s 2009 awards.

This year Click is up for awards in the category of Best Technical Achievement and Best Marketing/Station Sound.

The Best Technical Achievement shortlisting is in recognition of School of Computing student Nicky Vadera’s design for a web dashboard which Click presenters use to receive emails, script reads, weather forecasts and all the relevant information they would need to do a show, all through one web portal.

The nomination for best Marketing/Station Sound recognises the station’s imaging package, such as station voice and audio production, along with the best visual presence for its audience.

A fantastic achievement Dominic Dunn, the station’s Assistant Producer, said: ‘It’s a fantastic achievement for the station and all involved, considering we're only three years old. The station is continually getting recognised for quality broadcasting.

‘For Click to have won a Student Radio Association award last year and now receive two nominations this year is a real tribute and testament to the students who give up their time to support radio here at Teesside University.’

Click, which broadcasts from Aurora House on campus, is aimed at students and staff with programmes focusing on campus life, events happening across the region and primarily music.

The station was launched in January 2008 and is streamed live through the University’s online network. It can be accessed through www.clickteesside.com.
