A healthy graduation

Over 900 celebrated their achievements as they graduated from the School of Health & Social Care.

They were on courses ranging from diplomas in operating department practice to doctorates in clinical psychology.

Among those celebrating was a group of eight who achieved First Class BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degrees. One of the group, Peigi Morrison, said: 'I was delighted and surprised to get a first, I’m really happy. I’m looking forward to being finally get my qualification and it’s nice seeing everyone again.'

All the hard work paid off Fellow first class graduate Eoin Carroll added: 'It felt fantastic to get a first, all the hard work paid off at the end. And I’m pleased my parents Tim and Anne are there to see me get the degree.'

Later in the day, Andy Carr, who achieved a master of science in Advanced Clinical Practice (Manipulative Therapy) said: 'I hope my 11-year-old son Luke will be inspired to study when he sees me graduate.'

Diane Phenix, BA (Hons) Social Work said: 'My sisters Lorraine and Sam are here to see me graduate and I’m very pleased that all the hard work has paid off, I’m looking forward to holding my degree certificate. I’m proud to be working in a career that I thoroughly enjoy.'

Changing lives This graduation we have launched our alumni development fund ‘It started with a gift...’ We are inviting graduates to give their own gifts back to the University to build a fund to support future students.

The gift of education is transformational and with Gift Aid and a matched giving scheme from the Higher Education Funding Council, a donation can be more than doubled - £15 is worth £37.95.
