Caged for Comic Relief

21 March 2011

Presenters from the University’s radio station Click were trapped inside a cage for 24 hours for a live marathon charity broadcast.

The three students broadcast their show live from 9.00pm on Thursday 17 March until 9.00pm on Friday 18 March to raise money for the Comic Relief appeal.

Presenting the show were BA (Hons) Film and Television Production students Ben Harker, 20, Lucy Reeves, 19 and Tom Anstiss, 19.

The trio broadcast their show from a specially built cage in the Students’ Union.

During the show the presenters were given forfeits to complete, organised competitions and were interviewed live by BBC Tees – all without leaving the specially constructed cage.

Tom said: ‘We had a great time and although we did struggle a bit through lack of sleep, we kept going and encouraged people to raise money by suggesting forfeits, which included me having one of my legs waxed.’

Lucy added: ‘Broadcasting during the early hours was a little strange, but it was both mad and brilliant.’

The trio raised a total of £1,313.
