Mackenzie Thorpe to give master class

Internationally renowned artist Mackenzie Thorpe is to give a master class to 20 sixth form students from across the region on Tuesday 18 October. In the master class Mackenzie will be using art as a tool for self discovery and each of the students will leave with a completed piece of work.

Angela Wood, University Recruitment Assistant, said, 'We are honoured that MacKenzie has given his time to share his talent and expertise with possible artists of the future. We’re very much looking forward to seeing their completed pieces of work.'

Unique pieces Mackenzie has created ten new and unique pieces for a free exhibition, the ‘Middlesbrough Murals’, which is on display at the University’s Constantine Gallery in the Main Tower reception until Saturday 29 October. The exhibition is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Saturday. Mackenzie is a double honorary graduate of Teesside University, awarded a Master of Arts degree in 2000 and Doctor of Arts ten years later. His work has been shown all over the world including the United States, Japan and Australia and in some of London’s most exclusive galleries. He was invited by Teesside University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Henderson CBE to put on a show at the University and created a suite of original artworks for the exhibition.
