Get a career boost with a Teesside internship

17 November 2011

Work experience is one of the vital skills employers look for, so Teesside University is launching a new scheme to give graduates a career boost.

The University is offering a number of new internships for recent Teesside graduate, starting in January 2012.

Launched during graduation week at the University – November 21-25 - new graduates who are still looking for their first position will be able to register their interest.

Graduates will work in the University for three months, during which time they will gain vital work experience while being paid.

Professor Eileen Martin, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Learning & Student Experience) who has responsibility for graduate employability in the University said:

‘At Teesside, we recognise that getting that first foothold on the career ladder is a big step and we aim to provide a whole range of support for graduates towards this end, and access to our careers service for information and advice remains available for a full two years after a student has graduated.

‘However, in these difficult economic times we are looking for even more new ways to support our graduates into work and these internships will be a valuable new addition to the support services we offer.

‘We understand employers are often looking for experience alongside qualifications and internship schemes are a valuable route for graduates to combine that experience with the degree they have achieved.’
