Rebecca’s an Accounting Ace

03 January 2001

Rebecca Heslop scored a double when she graduated from the University of Teesside, clinching a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance, and the Hays Accountancy Personnel Prize, awarded for the best dissertation on her degree.

Rebecca, 22, formerly of West Dyke Road, Redcar, said: “I feel really pleased to have won the prize. I’m now aiming for a career in management accounting.”

While studying for ‘A’ levels in Business Studies, Statistics, Art and General Studies at Sir William Turners College in Redcar, Rebecca originally considered a career in graphic design. However, she then decided to aim for the world of business, following in the footsteps of her mother Janice, a financial analyst.

In August Rebecca married Edward Douthwaite, and they moved to Telford in Shropshire, where Edward is completing service with RAF Cosford.

Rebecca is the daughter of Christopher and Janice Heslop and a former pupil of West Redcar School.
