High flying graduate takes off with Teesside

08 October 2012

For business graduate Magdalena Granda, gaining a first class degree at Teesside University enabled her to spread her wings and land a dream job with aviation giant Airbus.

Magdalena, 23, graduated with a BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems and joined Airbus in 2010 on the Worldwide Services ICT Direct Entry Graduate scheme.

She has grasped the opportunity and is planning on moving into a Project Manager role in January 2013.

'It’s an absolutely dream job – it is high profile, challenging and stimulating. The people are fantastic. There are a lot of travel opportunities and further development is highly encouraged.

'In my current role I am managing a few activities focused on supplier integration and enablement from the IT perspective. Project management, communication and stakeholder management are therefore important in my job.'

After discovering that Airbus was offering a graduate scheme, Magdalena did not hesitate to apply and she is now working in the information communication technology department.

She added: 'On the two year scheme you move around all the different areas of the business to experience as much of the company and its activities as possible - and with the company being a world leader in aircraft manufacturing, a multicultural high performance organisation and a top employer – you cannot ask for more.'

For Magdalena, studying at Teesside was the perfect choice and was the vehicle for getting her airborne in the world of work.

'My course was described as creating hybrid managers of the new era – and it truly was,' explained Magdalena.

'I now have the business knowledge and technology application within a business context – something very sought after by employers.

'I would definitely recommend Teesside University to others. Personally, I had a brilliant time at Teesside. It was a truly great student experience.'

Teesside University is holding two undergraduate open days on October 13 and October 24, from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Potential students will be able to find out about the range of courses on offer, as well as information on accommodation, finance and student life.
