Each year World Book Night aims to encourage more people to read, through events held across the country to celebrate reading and distribute books. Middlesbrough-born Richard, who has written three novels, will be at Teesside University Library to read and talk about his literary work during the event from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday 23 April. Richard said: 'It’s great being involved with World Book Day and Night. Last year it was inspiring meeting the kids at Abbey Hill School in Stockton on World Book Day - and this year I'm looking forward to reading at Teesside University for the first time on World Book Night. It's good to see World Book Night thriving, encouraging folk to dive into the monochrome magic of books.' Free books to mark World Book Night will also be distributed, supplied by the World Book Night organisation, Blackwell Books and Teesside University. Refreshments will be available in the Library’s Learning Café.
