An array of artistic talent on display during Creative Teesside

14 May 2013

Fine art student Kinga Kaminska will be sharing her creative expertise with young artists after being offered a chance to work at a boarding school in York.

Kinga, 24, who graduates this year from Teesside University’s BA (Hons) Fine Art degree, is taking up a one-year graduate artist residency at Bootham School in York.

She said: ‘I’m really looking forward to this new role, which will involve working with teenagers at the school and also enable me to develop my own artwork.’

Kinga is originally from Poland but after leaving school moved to Romaldkirk, near Barnard Castle, to be with her mum Anna, who had moved to the region a few years prior.

She added: ‘Studying at Teesside has been a wonderful adventure, providing plenty of opportunities to expand my skills in my artwork. Everyone at the University has been so supportive.’

Kinga’s final year project is a video installation reflecting on feminism from the 1940s to the present day, using footage from The North East Film Archive (NEFA) located in the University’s Constantine Building.

Kinga’s artwork can be seen during Creative Teesside - a celebration of the work, dedication and creativity of the University’s School of Arts & Media students who are all due to graduate later this year.
