Teesside University's working partnership with Lingfield Point

19 June 2013 @TeessideUni

Teesside University is helping the businesses and the people at Darlington’s Lingfield Point to develop their skills and to grow.

Lingfield Point is an award winning space providing a home for a diverse range of companies including Capita, Student Loans Company, Darlington Borough Council, Four Seasons Health Care, NFU Mutual and NAAFI, to smaller fledgling ventures in incubation units.

As one of the UK’s leading business engaged universities, Teesside University has been working with companies at Lingfield Point to improve their business offerings and with their employees to improve their skills via CPD (continuing professional development) and part-time courses, ultimately enhancing their career prospects.

Teesside University Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Business Engagement) Professor Cliff Hardcastle met John Orchard, Director of Lingfield Point’s owner Marchday, to celebrate this ongoing partnership.

Professor Hardcastle said: 'Our programme of activities recognises and seeks to support the aspirations of the businesses whilst promoting the work-life balance which is very important at Lingfield Point.'

'Nurturing entrepreneurship and inspiring success is at the heart of our mission as a leading, business-engaged University.'

John Orchard, Director of Marchday, owner of Lingfield Point, said: 'Lingfield Point always likes to offer its customers that little bit extra and this partnership with Teesside University is an exceptional opportunity for people to continue their professional development or just to learn more about something they are interested in.

'It will help the businesses based here to broaden their skills base, help boost productivity, staff satisfaction and retention and, who knows, one day we could have the best educated business park in the UK.

'We are lucky to have a world-class University and its Darlington Campus on our doorstep. Together with the cutting-edge businesses located here it’s a match that will lead to innovation and success.'
