He received the award from Northern Area Partnership joint chairs Sue Angus and Peter McLinn at its centenary celebration dinner. The Northern Area Partnership comprises nine Northern CIPD branches, representing 20,000 HR professionals.

Teesside University Business School was chosen to receive the award in recognition of its continued contribution to the HR profession over many years, influencing and shaping professional development and practice.

Peter McLinn said: 'Many HR professional have undertaken their professional studies at the University and as a result have successfully progressed in their HR careers locally, nationally and internationally.'

Teesside University Business School maintains a strong relationship with the local CIPD Tees Valley branch, currently chaired by Naomi Robson, as an approved centre in providing the advanced level professional body underpinning knowledge requirements for the chartered institute’s professional membership grades.

Peter added: 'It was an honour to present the award to Teesside University at the centenary celebration dinner of the CIPD in its birthplace in York.'

Alastair Thomson said: 'I was privileged to receive on behalf of TUBS an award from the CIPD for all the help and support the Business School gives to them.

'This has been a mutual partnership which has worked well for several years and it was very thoughtful for CIPD to acknowledge that in their awards ceremony.'
