Follow Lauren on the part-time study path at Teesside University

01 July 2013

Lauren Barker is among many Teesside University students who have found part-time study worked for them.

She combined her work with postgraduate study, continuing her job as online media executive with SCS while studying the MSc Marketing Management part-time.

Lauren, who is based in the Sunderland head office of the national furniture retailer, said: 'Juggling work full time and commuting from Sunderland to University in Middlesbrough every week could be strenuous, but the moment I listened to the professional lecturers it was truly inspiring and made me even more driven.

'My employers were extremely supportive and I feel the course definitely helped me gain the confidence to apply for my latest role, along with the knowledge to get me where I am today, being able to mix with all levels of management with great ease.'

Potential students can learn more about part-time study during an open day at Teesside University’s Middlesbrough campus, from 2.00pm to 7.00pm on Monday 15 July.

As well as learning more about the variety of part-time study options at the University’s Middlesbrough and Darlington campuses, visitors can find out first hand from lecturers and staff just how studying at Teesside could change their life.

The event gives visitors the opportunity to meet with subject specialists and get all the information they need about courses, facilities, fees and funding at Teesside University.

Karen Williams, Recruitment Co-ordinator at Teesside University, said: 'Our open days are fantastic events which give people considering part-time study an opportunity to experience what we can offer and explore their options for flexible study alongside other commitments.'
