Business Exchange welcomes one of UK’s top eco-entrepreneurs

23 January 2014

Industry leaders will hear from top UK eco-entrepreneur Reed Paget when the Teesside University Business Exchange meets on Tuesday. (Jan 28)

The former journalist and film-maker turned world-leading social entrepreneur is the guest speaker at the free networking event at Teesside University’s Darlington Campus.

Laura Woods, Director of Academic Enterprise, said: 'Reed’s is a remarkable story. As a documentary filmmaker he witnessed the crackdown in Tiananmen Square, the civil war in South Africa, the collapse of the Soviet Union and scud missiles landing in Israel.

'He then switched direction and is now one of the country’s top eco-entrepreneurs, encouraging businesses to re-think their production methods to limit the damage on the environment.

'We are sure those attending next week’s Business Exchange will be inspired by his story.'

Reed has a successful track record of developing and marketing green consumer goods.

He founded Belu Water – the UK’s most eco-friendly and world’s first carbon neutral bottled water.

Belu is the UK’s fastest growing bottled water brand and was the first in Europe to use compostable bottles made from corn and the first to commit all profits to clean water projects.

Reed also co-founded Ecocap, a company which has patented a new bottle cap designed to help increase the recycling of plastic caps.

He is now focused on developing and financing a wide range of eco-friendly products via his latest venture, One Earth Innovation.

Business leaders from across the region are invited to meet Reed at the Business Exchange.

The Business Exchange was launched by Teesside University to enable industry leaders to share knowledge and experience, boosting economic regeneration and enabling business to grow and prosper.

• The Business Exchange with Reed Paget, film-maker turned eco-entrepreneur and founder of Belu Water, takes place at Teesside University, Vicarage Road, Darlington, on January 28 from 8am to 9.30am.
