The prospectus, one of the first of its kind in the UK, has been developed and optimised for tablet devices and is downloadable for free as an app for iOS and Android operating systems.
The interactive prospectus has built on the existing content of the print version, 40,000 copies of which are distributed to schools, colleges and at recruitment fair and open days throughout the year.
This new digital experience is rich in video, image galleries and live links, enabling the University to better reflect what it’s like to study at Teesside, by showcasing student life on campus, and profiling the facilities, student work and the pedigree of its staff and graduates in a much more engaging and interactive way.
If the tablet device has a Wi-Fi or 3G connection, users can also click on the live weblinks that allow them to access more information, including full course and module information on the University website, or even apply instantly for a place at the University by linking through to the national UCAS website.
Assistant Chief Executive and Director of External Relations, Michael Lavery, said: “This is an exciting new concept which we have developed to meet the demands of today’s applicants, and their parents and influencers, and is a major milestone in our digital marketing programme for the recruitment of students.
“Young people consume information in an increasingly sophisticated way and are becoming accustomed to a dynamic and interactive user experience and, indeed, many have now come to expect it.
“The interactive prospectus allows our prospective students to gain a deeper insight into what we offer as a University, and to see and hear for themselves what life as a student on Teesside is like, the courses we offer and the support and resources available.”

The Teesside University app is free and easy to download following theses simple steps.

Once you have downloaded the Publications app, you will need to download the interactive prospectus itself – this will take 5 to 10 minutes depending on your Wi-Fi bandwidth.
The launch of the prospectus kick-starts Teesside University’s undergraduate recruitment 2015 campaign which will see the University host a number of key events including its open day on June 18. Registration for the open day is now open, book your place now.
