Reunion event will hear from inspirational teacher

02 April 2014

A teacher who inspired others in the profession when he appeared on national television is to talk about his passion for education at a Teesside University event.

Michael Steer, whose school featured in the Channel 4 documentary Educating Yorkshire, will be among guest speakers at an exclusive event for Teesside University graduates now working in the teaching profession.

This alumni reunion event, from 6.00pm to 9.00pm on Thursday 24 April, provides an opportunity for graduates to catch up with old friends and network with like-minded professionals, while hearing from a selection of high-profile speakers.

Michael, who is deputy head at Thornhill Community Academy, teaches maths and has responsibility for curriculum and progress for the whole academy.

Also due to speak is former head teacher and Ofsted inspector Rosemary Campbell-Stephens, who has over 30 years of experience within the education sector. Joining her is dyslexia specialist and Teesside University Education Subject Group Leader Sharon Powell.

Places are free of charge, limited initially to Teesside University alumni and their guests with a waiting list for anyone else interested in attending, but must be booked by contacting Marika Bingham on 01642 738315 or emailing alumni.office@tees.ac.uk
