Exclusive look at new James Bond car - designed by Teesside University graduate

08 October 2015

A Teesside University graduate who is now Director of Design at Aston Martin has been giving a sneak preview of the new James Bond car to television personality Paul Hollywood.

Marek Reichman designed the Aston Martin DB10, which is James Bond’s car in the upcoming film Spectre. Only ten of the cars were made and they have been described as 'the most exclusive DB ever.'

Licence to Thrill: Paul Hollywood Meets Aston Martin was shown on BBC2 Two at the weekend and is repeated on Sunday 11 October at 7.00pm.

In the programme, the Great British Bake Off star meets Marek and talks to him about the incisive and intricate design of the DB10, before being taken for a drive in the exclusive car.

Marek gained a first class degree in design from the former Teesside Polytechnic and was also awarded an Honorary Master of Science from the University in 2006 and a Doctorate in Professional Achievement in 2010. He has been with Aston Martin for over ten years.

Talking to Paul Hollywood about the DB10 design, Marek said: 'We wanted to get as close to the sketch as possible. Those sharp features, the undercuts, the menacing nose, the predatory feel – it’s all there in the car.'

Reflecting previously about his time at Teesside University, Marek added: 'Teesside University is an incredibly creative place in terms of the attitude of the students and staff and the atmosphere around campus. It provided me with the foundations to be where I am today.'

Spectre hits the cinemas in November and the DB10 is the latest in a long line of James Bond Astons, with roots going all the way back to Sean Connery's DB5 in 1964's Goldfinger.
