The School of Arts & Media offers a diverse range of practice-led subject areas including Art, Design, Dance, Media, Journalism and Performing Arts, along with English and History and the introduction of new and innovative programmes in Fashion and Textiles.

Art and design students also have an opportunity to learn and engage with the leading modern and contemporary gallery mima, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, which is part of Teesside University.

Graduates from the School of Arts & Media have gone on to top positions in companies such as Aston Martin, Philips, F1, Dreamworks and Marvel Comics.

Commenting on her role as Dean of the School of Arts & Media, Jill said: 'I am delighted to be able to continue to lead colleagues in the School of Arts & Media. All of our academic staff are committed to practice and their research which informs their teaching, to ensure that our community of learning is exciting, contemporary and relevant to the real world.'

Jill, who is a member of the University’s Institute of Design, Culture and the Arts, added: 'I am also looking forward to helping to raise the University’s profile and continuing to work with mima in exploring how curating and research may lead to new opportunities in education, training and social and cultural exchanges.'

Teesside University’s Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Professor Paul Croney said: 'I am delighted to announce Jill’s appointment as Dean of the School of Arts & Media. I am very much looking forward to working with her building on the success of the School.'
