The BA (Hons) Sports Management and Marketing at Teesside University is being delivered in collaboration with Middlesbrough Football Club, which adds unprecedented value to the degree.
As well as sport-orientated modules in business management and marketing, students will be able to witness how the practical elements of their work impacts on an actual sporting organisation.
The brand new course offers the opportunity to have modules delivered at Middlesbrough Football Club’s Riverside Stadium and allows students to work on live case studies at the club.
There will also be guest lectures and live projects, providing knowledge of sports management and marketing within a professional football club setting. Students will learn about the business management issues of organisational operations, social pressures facing sports, sport organisations and key developments in sponsorship, communications and event planning.
Professor Paul Crawshaw, Acting Dean of Teesside University’s School of Social Sciences, Business & Law, said: 'The University has enjoyed a long and successful partnership with Middlesbrough Football Club and we are delighted to be working together to deliver this truly unique degree programme.
'There are many career opportunities in the sports industry and we have combined our excellence in management and marketing, with our in-depth knowledge and understanding of sport, to provide a fantastic new course designed for people who are looking to pursue a career in this increasingly popular area.
'To be working so closely with Middlesbrough Football Club is a fantastic opportunity for students and will allow them to experience first-hand the marketing and business opportunities that arise at a professional sporting organisation.'
Mark Ellis, MFC Chief Operating officer, added: 'We are delighted to extend our ongoing partnership with Teesside University by supporting the academic staff and providing students with exposure to the practical challenges faced by a modern football club.'
