Professor Turner, OBE DL, is Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise and Business Engagement) and secured first place in the Tees Region’s 30 Most Inspiring Business Leaders 2021, as awarded by her peers.

Professor Turner is the first female winner of the award and the top ranked female for a third successive year.

This latest recognition follows the Lifelong Inspiration Award, which Professor Turner received at the Tees Businesswomen Awards in 2020.

Professor Turner is responsible for the enterprise and business engagement strategy at Teesside University, driving economic and social impact. She has a Doctorate in Business Leadership and was awarded an OBE in 2017 for her services to business. She is passionate about raising the aspirations of young people, particularly girls across the North East and was also awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award at the 2019 Tees Businesswomen Awards

Reflecting on her latest accolade, Professor Turner said: ‘I am honoured to be presented with this award. To be the first female winner is amazing and it makes it even more special to know it was voted for by my peers.

‘It is so important for young women in the Tees Valley to have inspiring women to look up to and for them to see that they can achieve whatever they want.

“I would like to thank everybody involved and to let them know that I will continue to champion young women in our region and work to raise aspiration and achievement.”
