Holly’s fashion set to hit the capital

25 May 2001

University of Teesside BA (Hons) International Textiles & Surface Pattern student Holly Davis is set to exhibit her work at a top London design graduate show - New Designers, from 12-15 July.

The BA degree is taught at the Hartlepool Campus of Cleveland College of Art & Design. Holly’s work includes a combination of fashion and furnishing fabrics based on 1960s and 70s geometric and floral prints.

Holly, 22, from Acomb, York, said: “I’ve spent the past three years learning a range of skills which cover the full range of textile-based disciplines, including printing, surface pattern design and embroidery. I’ve enjoyed living in Hartlepool, it’s a small place and you get to know everybody.”

Last year she also completed a work experience placement in the studios of internationally renowned designer, Zandra Rhodes.

She said: “It was really good, giving me quite an insight into how the textiles industry works.”

Holly is a former pupil of York College and All Saints RC School. She is the daughter of Robert and Carole Davis.

The work of Holly and other students from the BA (Hons) International Textiles & Surface Pattern degree will be exhibited at Hartlepool Art Gallery, Church Square, Hartlepool from Thursday 14 June-Sunday 24 June. The exhibition is free and open to the public. It will be closed on Monday 18 June, with opening hours from Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sundays from 2-5pm.
