The students won shopping vouchers after submitting feedback to the International Student Barometer (ISB) and being randomly selected from those who took part.

The ISB is a prestigious annual survey, conducted by i-graduate, which gathers feedback from international students across the world in a wide range of areas.

The results of this year’s survey are expected to be released in March and Teesside University is hopeful of continuing the success of last year’s results, which gave Teesside a top global ranking for overall student satisfaction.

Teesside University uses the survey results to gain insight into the experience offered to international students, identify what is being done well and understand any areas where improvement might be needed.

All ISB participants were entered into the prize draw and two winners from Teesside University received vouchers for £100, two received £50 and four £25.

Sasi Manchina, from India, who is studying MSc Artificial Intelligence with Data Analytics, won £100. She said she was keen to study at Teesside University after researching the course.

“I didn’t know anything about Teesside and talked to a Professor in India who was helpful in getting me information,” said Sasi. “The teaching environment is very different to India, and I have really enjoyed my time here. I have found it to be very welcoming and supportive.”

Umera Parveen, who also won £100 and is studying MSc Bioinformatics with Advanced Practice, added: “I have a six-month old baby, so had to juggle my pregnancy and having a child with my studies, and all the staff have been very supportive. It is a warm and welcoming university.

This survey is important to us, as it helps us to see what we are doing well

“The quality of education at Teesside University is high. I have relatives who also studied here, and they highly recommended it to me.”

MSc Aerospace Engineering student Mokaddemul Asha, from Bangladesh, was among those who won £25. He said: “I have previously studied in Singapore and the quality of education and facilities here at Teesside are first-class.

“It is important for students to be able to give their feedback in this way as it offers a platform and an opportunity for students to suggest changes and put forward ideas.”

Osarenren Roy Iyamu, who is studying MA International Relations (Applied) and is from Nigeria, also won £25. He said: “The cost of living in this area is really good, and I am really impressed by the lecturers and support offered by all of the departments.”

Dr David Bell, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), at Teesside University, thanked the students for completing the ISB. He said: “This survey is important to us, as it helps us to see what we are doing well, while also highlighting any areas where we could further improve.

“We will continue to invest and ensure that we are always delivering the best student experience and that Teesside University remains a positive choice for students from around the world.”

Teesside University has regional offices in India, Malaysia, Pakistan, China and Nigeria.
