Queer Base centres around community and connection through creativity. We explore this with relaxed, informal book groups (no pressure to read the book) and creative writing for wellbeing sessions (no pressure to share your writing). We occasionally hold socials such as group meals or nights out supporting other local queer endeavours such as drag cabaret events from Lipstick or We The Queers.
Teesside University has been very supportive of Queer Base, inviting us to participate in Trans Awareness Week and Mini Pride so far. There are TU staff and students in our group as well as people from the wider community and it’s a great way to connect. We hope to meet you soon! Queer Base meets 6.00pm – 7.00pm two Wednesdays a month, currently at Pineapple Black in Middlesbrough. Follow @queer.base on Instagram for up-to-date details or get in touch with Emily Downes (e.downes@tees.ac.uk).
