We’ve got a range of activities to commemorate Transgender Awareness Week. Everyone is welcome.

To mark Transgender Day of Remembrance (Monday 20 November), a presentation commemorating trans people who have lost their lives to hate crime will be displayed on the big screen in Campus Heart and in Student Life from 11.00am.

The LGBTQ+ focus group invites everyone to join the commemoration in Campus Heart. Hot drinks will be freely available on the first floor in Student Life between 10.30am - 11:30am. A wellbeing walk from Student Life to Albert Park, will set off at 12.00pm, offering people a chance to check-in with each other and show their allyship.

The Campus Heart and Middlesbrough Tower will be lit up in to mark Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Monday 13 November, 10.00am - 11.00am, 1.08, The Curve
Andrew’s talk includes practical guidance for gender expression and safe ways to affirm personal gender identity during social transition. This talk would benefit anyone who wants to know more about safe practice around such things as binding. There’s also a Q&A.

Thursday 16 November, 2.00pm - 3.00pm, SU Love It Lounge
A talk and performance with Clare Sheperia, a trans activist and performer who will share an insight into her life as a trans woman and performer living and working within the North-East. There’s a Q&A, followed by a performance.

Friday 17 November, 12.00pm - 12.45pm, online
Edward, author of Gender Confirmation Surgery: a guide for trans and non-binary people, which will give an invaluable insight into his own experiences of surgery.
