Fuse is a partnership of public health researchers from the five north east universities of Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland, and Teesside.

The Centre works with policy makers, practice partners, the public, and voluntary and community organisations, to improve health and wellbeing and tackle health inequalities.

Teesside University’s Professor Amelia Lake, from the School of Health & Life Sciences, is the Associate Director of Fuse and regularly contributes to media debate and policy making around public health nutrition.

Speaking about her new role, Professor Ramsey said: ‘It is a privilege to take on the Directorship of Fuse. The Centre has been at the forefront of research excellence and translation in the North East and beyond.
