Teesside University is proud to launch this year’s Alumni Volunteer Awards, celebrating the outstanding contributions of graduates who generously give their time, expertise, and passion to support the University and its community.
The awards span three categories:
• Rising Star Alumni Volunteer Award
• Long-Service Volunteer Award
• Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award
These awards recognise exceptional alumni from Teesside’s global network who inspire students, contribute to University governance, champion Teesside as a leading institution, and strengthen its teaching and research. Their dedication, leadership, creativity, and innovation continue to enrich the University in countless ways.
Head of Engagement and Enterprise, Sam Forbes explained that “Our alumni volunteers are the heartbeat of Teesside’s global community. These awards are our way of recognising the incredible generosity, leadership and passion they bring to the University. Whether they’re mentoring students, shaping our governance, or championing Teesside around the world, their impact is profound, and we’re proud to celebrate every one of them.”
Last year’s Alumni Volunteer of the Year was MA Digital Media and Communications graduate Helen Lumsdon, who revitalised the TUXtra radio station, transforming it from dormant to a vibrant 24/7 broadcast hub. She shared that “Volunteering at TUXtra and empowering others to achieve their radio and podcasting goals is a true privilege”.
