Warning of pop audition deception

Advertisements have been issued which state that pop group auditions are to be held at the University of Teesside’s Main Hall on Saturday 4 August and Sunday 5 August, from 9am-5pm, at a cost of £10 per audition.

Members of the public and the University of Teesside have been victims of a deception and NO ‘pop group auditions’ are scheduled to take place at the University of Teesside this weekend.

The University is working closely with the Police service and members of the public are therefore advised NOT to travel to the University of Teesside this weekend, and NOT to pay £10 to any individual.

Concerned members of the public can contact Cleveland Police on 01642 249406, from Friday 3 August-Sunday 5 August from 10am-4pm each day.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Derek Fraser said, "The University has made every effort through the local and national media to inform people of this position and may I stress my regret that you have become involved in this most unpleasant deception."
