The 30-week course begins on Thursday 11 October from 9.30am-12.30pm, at the Old Boardroom, Ground floor, Middlesbrough Tower on the University's main campus. It has been validated by the Teesside Regional Open College Network (TROCN) and taught in three individual 10-week units, which are:
Television and the Region - From The Likely Lads to Look North, how does television news, comedy and drama portray the North-East?
Women in Film - How has femininity been represented in British films of the 20th century? This unit will explore films from the 1930s and 1940s, including Brief Encounter and Baby Face.
Community Cultures - Are our local communities divided by gender - or not?
