An interactive workshop & mental health resource hub to help students understand & manage their wellbeing while at University & beyond

About this Event

We all have mental health and managing mental health and wellbeing is a key part of thriving at university. Mind has created this interactive workshop, and accompanying resources, to provide students with knowledge and skills around managing their mental health and wellbeing.

Our aim is to help students take a proactive approach to looking after their mental health and to ensure they know where to find the right support if they need it. During the 2 hour session we work with a small group of students to explore what mental health is, how to work with the 5 ways to wellbeing to support ourselves, where to find support from within and outside university, and how to have conversations about mental health.

The session will allow space for discussion on these topics, provide opportunities for students to benefit from peer support and to interact with the mental health trainer.

The session will cover:

What mental health and wellbeing are

The five ways to wellbeing -- five evidenced-based actions designed to improve personal wellbeing

Connecting with other students

Ways to support others and finding support for yourself

Managing Stress

Signs and symptoms of mental health problems

Wellness Action Plans.

Who is this course for?

This course is for any undergraduate student who would like to learn more about mental health or looking after their wellbeing. It is directed at students who are early on in their student journey but it is open to all undergraduates who would benefit from it.

The session isn’t suitable for people who might be experiencing high levels of distress and is not designed to give specific support to individuals.
Delivery

Currently sessions are designed to be delivered online via a video conference platform. When the current COVID -19 situation allows we will be opening up options for delivery face to face. All online session are to be delivered by an experienced mental health trainer and a co-host.

Resources and information

After the session, attendees will be given access to a curated resource hub with additional tools and information to carry on their learning. This will include signposting to support for specific groups of students, and more tools and information on a range of mental health topics.
