The One Fifteen at MIMA is a series of informal lunchtime talks, in which academics at Teesside University talk about current research and take questions from the audience. All are welcome and no prior knowledge of the subject is needed.

As work and workplaces change and evolve, and as Artificial Intelligence (AI) brings new challenges and possibilities, many professionals are considering how to shape the next stages of their careers.
Dr Mansoor Soomro will explore the advantages and trade-offs of specialist and generalist career paths, offering insights into both. Dr Soomro is Senior Lecturer in Sustainability and International Business at Teesside University International Business School.
Dr Soomro is the author of a new book, The Generalist Advantage. Drawing from the book, he will introduce a structured approach to understanding generalists and specialists in the changing world of work.
