About | Webinar: Teachers Really Do Change Lives
Research suggests that the presence of one trusted, emotionally available adult before the age of 18, interrupts the progression from childhood adversity and trauma to learning difficulties, a poor school experience, and physical and mental health difficulties….. for many children that person will be a teacher.
In this talk, Lynn Miles – Senior Lecturer in Education at Teesside University and creator of the MA Education (Trauma-Informed Practice) and Pg Cert Trauma-Informed Learning and Teaching – will draw on her own lived experience of adversity and trauma, her 20 + years as a teacher, and current research and thinking to explain how teachers can be a lifeline for children growing up in challenging circumstances and why in the aftermath of the Covid-19 lockdown, great teachers are more important than ever.
