Bond car designer returns to Middlesbrough

11 February 2008

Aston Martin Director of Design, Marek Reichman, a Teesside graduate is returning to give a free lecture. Marek designed the DBS car for Casino Royale.

Entitled ‘An emotional journey’, the lecture will take place in the Centuria Building, Victoria Road, Middlesbrough. Refreshments are available from 6.00pm. Marek’s lecture will discuss new philosophies in contemporary car design, referring to experiences from his design career. Marek first worked with the Rover Group and then joined BMW Designworks/USA in California as a senior designer. He worked later as a chief designer for Ford/Lincoln Mercury, again in California, before returning to the UK with Aston Martin.

Marek is no stranger to the University, as he graduated from Teesside Polytechnic in 1989 with a BA (Hons) Industrial Design and returned again in 2006 to be awarded an Honorary Master of Science. During the making of Casino Royale Marek flew to the location filming in Prague and met Daniel Craig.

Places for the lecture are limited. To book a seat please contact the University’s Alumni Office on 01642 384255 or email alumni.office@tees.ac.uk.

Marek’s lecture is part of the University’s annual Professorial and Public lecture series, which end in May.
