Picture perfect Darlington for photographic competition

23 February 2011

What inspires you about Darlington? Is it the people, the landscape, your own memories?

We are asking you to capture on camera what Darlington means to you and enter our photography competition.

Darlington is a vibrant and cultural town with a rich history – and it’s also the location of Teesside University’s new £13m five-storey campus, which is due to open this summer.

The new 4,000 sq metre, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching building is located alongside Darlington College at Central Park, Haughton Road.

The aim of the photography competition, which links to the opening of the University’s new campus, is to encourage people to visually depict what is special to them about Darlington.

The competition has four age categories: • 8 - 10 years • 11 - 16 years • 17 - 21 years • 22+ years.

Shortlisted photographs will be displayed on the University’s website, with visitors to the website asked to vote for their favourite. Voting will be open from mid-May until the end of June.

£100 worth of photography vouchers The closing date for entries is 30 April. A winner from each category will each receive £100 worth of photography vouchers.

The winning photographs from each age category will be framed and displayed in Teesside University's new campus in Darlington, with the winning photographers and their families invited to the launch of the new campus.
