Graduate talent on hand to offer your business a boost

20 October 2015

A new scheme is being launched by Teesside University to give graduates a head start in their career and allow businesses to benefit from an injection of fresh talent.

The fully-funded 12 week Graduate Intern Scheme gets underway in January 2016, but businesses are urged to put forward suggestions now for projects that can be matched to graduates. The scheme gives employers an opportunity to get additional resource to work on hard to progress projects and also helps new graduates get a foot on the career ladder by gaining invaluable experience with a local employer. Running for a three month period, the Graduate Intern Scheme provides fresh thinking, talent and enthusiasm for regional businesses and allows them to gain support for a specific project free of charge. The University takes care of recruitment and funds the interns’ salaries. Andy Price, Head of Enterprise Development and Education at Teesside University, said: 'Employers are often looking for relevant experience alongside qualifications and this scheme provides an ideal opportunity for graduates to gain vital experience, while at the same time offering a unique opportunity for local businesses to utilise the skills and expertise of recent graduates.' Chris Adamson studied BA (Hons) Multimedia Journalism and is a recent graduate intern. He said: 'The Teesside University Graduate Intern Scheme has really helped my professional development and enhanced my skills and employability. I would recommend the scheme to any other graduate.' The deadline for businesses to apply for a graduate intern is Friday 30 October. Businesses are not limited to only one application.
