Jane was a true inspiration and a supportive, generous and dedicated colleague and friend. She dedicated her career to improving the lives and fortunes of people across the North East, especially in challenging gender inequality and supporting young girls to reach their potential.

She leaves a lasting legacy and the University will continue to drive forward the work she initiated, in her memory.

Funeral arrangements

Jane made a huge impact on so many people’s lives and this has been evident in the many tributes made online in the past few days.

We know that her friends and colleagues will wish to pay their respects and can confirm that her funeral will take place at St Nicholas’ Church, Guisborough, at 10am Thursday 22 July.

Regrettably, it will not be possible to accommodate everybody at the church. We therefore ask that if you would like to attend, you contact Jill Weeks (Jill.Weeks@tees.ac.uk) to have your name added to a ballot, which will enable us to allocate places fairly.

Jane’s family have asked that, in lieu of flowers, you consider making a donation to The Power of Women campaign in her memory. This campaign was launched by Jane to raise the aspirations of girls across the Tees Valley, and to empower them with the courage to be what they want to be. You can donate online here - https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-power-of-women-2021.
