International award for Digital Transformation Team

The Digital Transformation Team in Student Learning & Academic Registry (SLAR) has won an international award for providing innovative training and professional development opportunities in the use of digital technology.

The team has received the Anthology Catalyst Award in the Training and Professional Development Category. Dr Ann Thanaraj, Assistant Academic Registrar, is the workstream leader and Paul Durston, Digital Learning Manager, leads the project.

Founded in 2005, the Catalyst Awards celebrate excellence in the innovative use of technology in support of student success, and the Teesside University team shares its success with other winning educational institutions from more than 20 countries worldwide.

Teesside was recognised for its organisation-wide dedication to providing innovative training and development programmes for academic and professionals services colleagues.

These initiatives included the development and implementation of an extensive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme to help colleagues develop essential skills to use our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Blackboard Ultra, and inform course and module design.

Dr Jonathan Eaton, Director of Student Learning and Academic Registrar, said: ‘This prestigious industry award is well-deserved and recognises the Digital Transformation Team’s outstanding efforts in delivering innovative training and development opportunities to colleagues, as part of our commitment to Future Facing Learning.
