Dr Tannaz Pak, Associate Professor (Research) in Energy and Environmental Engineering in the University’s School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies, was interviewed by IOM3 Investigates, the podcast series of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

INWED Day is celebrated on June 23 each year. The podcast series is called Inspiring women in Materials, Minerals & Mining.

Listen to the podcast here.

Dr Pak is a chartered engineer and professional member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and is active in STEM education and outreach. She was named among the 2021 winners of a Top 50 Women in Engineering: Engineering Heroes award by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES).

WE50 awards celebrate women who have made a significant contribution to engineering in helping their organisation, community, or indeed the world, continue to function during the last year. Dr Pak said: “I have been a chartered engineer and a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining since 2017. Most of the research I conduct has a major materials component to it. For example, over the past few years I have been focused on the use of advanced and sustainable material for groundwater remediation and water treatment.

“Materials synthesis, characterisation, and application in the fields of energy and the environment have always fascinated me. In this episode of the IOM3 Investigates podcast series, I share my career journey.”
