The University won the Public Sector Award at the Tees Valley BME Achievement Awards for its continued work to help ensure equality and inclusion becomes embedded every day for colleagues and students.

The event, that took place at Walled Garden, Kirkleatham on Friday 3 November, recognises the contribution of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) individuals and organisations who make a positive impact in the region.

Teesside University continues to sponsor the annual awards ceremony, which promote race equality and diversity by creating a platform that empowers BME individuals and organisations to share their successes, stories, and contributions with the broader community.

Colleagues, student ambassadors and members of the Ethnic and Cultural Diversity Focus Group attended the ceremony to represent Teesside University.

We are proud to have won the Public Sector Award as it embraces our own Equality Objectives which encourages empowering individuals and teams to enhance their contribution to the future aims and strategic direction of the University.
