Teesside University appoints leading engineer as Honorary Professor

Teesside University has appointed an internationally-renowned engineer, Professor Eduard Loscos, as an Honorary Professor within its School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies.

This prestigious appointment recognises Professor Loscos's outstanding contributions to the field of digital construction and his extensive experience in both academic and industrial settings.

Professor Loscos currently serves as the R&D Manager at Spanish civil engineering company IDP Ingeniería, Medio ambiente y Arquitectura, which is evolving into Bureau Veritas Group's Centre for BIM and Digital Solutions.

Over the past twenty-five years, he has demonstrated remarkable leadership in advancing digital methodologies within the built environment sector. His impressive track record includes successfully obtaining and directing over twenty-five European projects and coordinating five major programmes, including the groundbreaking SPHERE initiative—the first European project dedicated to Digital Twin Environments within the construction sector.

In addition to his project leadership, Professor Loscos has established the Building Digital Twin Association, where he serves as President. He is also the Convenor of Standardisation Group 9 in the European Technical Committee CEN TC442, overseeing the development and publication of essential technical reports and leading the creation of new European standards for Digital Twins in the Built Environment.

Professor Loscos's appointment is expected to significantly strengthen Teesside University's research capacity in digital construction, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and sustainable infrastructure.
